Anlasskleid "Dalmatian Blue" - MMM # 7

Der Stoff. Der Schnitt. Das Kleid... Ich bin absolut verliebt in mein neuestes Anlasskleid!!! Die grandiosen Dalmatiner auf dunkelblauem Grund habe ich vor 2-3 Jahren am Maybachufer ergattert. Es war das letzte Stück, das sie von diesem wunderbar weichen, japanischen Baumwollstoff hatten - 1,5 Meter. Seitdem habe ich den Stoff gehütet, die Hündchen immer wieder gestreichelt und auf den Tag gewartet, an dem sie endlich ins Freie dürfen. Ein Kleid sollte es sein, möglichst schlicht, ohne viele Abnäher, aber eben trotzdem mit dem gewissen Etwas... Zum Glück stand dieses Jahr wieder eine Hochzeit an und eine Schwester zum "Karo und Kirschen"-Kleid mußte her. Ich fand ein vielversprechendes Schnittmuster in der Fashion Style und nähte ein Probekleid, das im Desaster endete... Also guckte ich doch wieder meine Burdas durch und da war es auf einmal! Der Ausschnitt mußte zwar geändert werden und die Ärmel wollte ich auch nicht haben, aber ansonsten schien alles perfekt. Jeweils vier schräge Abnäher vorne und hinten, die von der Taille ausgehen und eine schöne Form bringen ohne zu doll aufzufallen. Und ein schickes Ripsbändchen in der Taille als Hingucker. Zum Glück habe ich ein zweites Probekleid genäht...denn ich finde das Endergebnis nun auch wirklich perfekt!

The fabric. The cut. The dress... I am absolutely in love with my most recent dress for a special occasion!!! I managed to get hold of these grand Dalmatians on a dark blue ground already 2-3 years ago. It was the last piece of this gorgeous soft japanese cotton fabric - just 1.5 metres. Since then I treasured this fabric, petting the doggies once in a while, waiting for the day they would finally be allowed outside. A dress it should be, preferably plain, without too many darts, but still sporting that certain something.... Luckily there was another wedding due this year and the "checks and cherry"-dress  urgently needed a sister. I seemed to have found a promising pattern in the Fashion Style and started with a muslin which went straight to the bin... So I was flicking through my Burda issues again and suddenly there it was! The neckline needed to be changed and I didn't wanted the sleeves but all in all it seemed perfect. Just four darts at the front and the back starting from the waist which create a very nice shape without standing out too much. And a very lovely grosgrain ribbon accentuating the waist and being a nice eye-catcher. Luckily I did sew another muslin...now I think the result really is perfect!

Änderungen/changes: Oberteil 1 cm, Rock 4 cm verlängert; in der hinteren Mitte ca. 2 cm zum Ausschnitt hin weggenommen; für Armausschnitte und Schultern Gr. 40; Ärmel weggelassen; Ausschnittform in U-Boot-Form geändert; Oberteil komplett gefüttert / Top plus 1 cm, skirt plus 4 cm; minus ca. 2 cm at the middle of the back; armholes and shoulders in size 14 (UK); no sleeves, changed neckline into a bateau neckline

Das Oberteil habe ich komplett mit einem dünnen Batist gefüttert, an allen Ausschnittnähten verstärkt und dann nach Simones toller Bilderanleitung genäht und gewendet.

I cut a full lining for the top out of a thin batiste which I reinforced with fusible interfacing at all relevant seams. After that I used this really good manual to sew and then turn the top.

 Das Futter habe ich am Tag der Hochzeit erst angenäht ;-) Eine Seite sieht super aus, die andere ist geschlampt, da muß ich nochmal ran. Den Saum habe ich mit passendem Schrägband versäubert.

I just sewed the lining to the outer fabric at the day of the wedding ;-) Therefore one side is looking very neat the other rather not, I guess I have to have a go there again. For the seam I chose a matching bias binding.

Heute ist es nicht sooo warm, daher dürfen meine Lieblingsstiefel nochmal raus. Da ich heute zum Mittagessen in der Königlichen Gartenakademie verabredet bin, passt das Kleid ganz wunderbar, finde ich. Fehlt nur noch der Hut :-)

It's not soo hot today therefore I can wear my favourite boots once again. Since I have a date for lunch at the Royal Garden Academy (in Berlin) today I think the dress matches the location perfectly. Just the hat is missing :-)

Geringeltes Neongrün - MMM # 6

Gestern abend ist er dann doch endlich fertig geworden. Der kurzärmlige Sweater, von dem ich vor einigen Wochen noch dachte, ich nähe den mal schnell an einem vormittag. Inklusive zuschneiden versteht sich. Sind ja nur drei Schnitteile.... und dann habe ich zweimal einen linken Ärmel zugeschnitten!! Und natürlich war nicht genug Stoff übrig... Die zugeschnittenen Teile landeten in der Ecke und ich war genervt. Für nur einen Ärmel Stoff nachbestellen? Zum Glück findet der Ältere meiner beiden Chaoten den Stoff so gut, daß er auch einen Pullli daraus haben möchte. Also gab es einen guten Grund, nicht meinen Pulli den Kindern zu opfern, sondern wirklich nachzubestellen :) Und hier ist das Ergebnis:

Änderungen/changes: Saum um 3 cm verlängert, Ärmel um 2 cm gekürzt, aber Besatz verkleinert, Saum und Ausschnitt mit Rollsaum / seam plus 3 cm, sleeve minus 2 cm, but shortened the foldover, seam and neckline with rolled hem

 Yesterday evening I finally finished it! The sweater with short sleeves which a few weeks ago I thought to quickly sew up in one morning session. Including the cutting... well, and then I ended up cutting out the left sleeve two times!! For sure there was not enough fabric left... I put everything away and was annoyed. Buying more fabric for just one sleeve?? Luckily the older of my two rascals likes the fabric that much that he wants a sweater too. Enough reason not to have the children have my sweater but to really buy more fabric :) So here we go...I like it!

Pfauenkleid - MMM #5

Der Sommer ist endlich da! Yay! Und endlich können auch die Sommerlieblinge vom letzten Jahr wieder an die frische Luft. Nachdem ich jahrelang einen großen Bogen um gelbe Kleidung gemacht habe, konnte ich im letzten Jahr gleich zwei gelbe Stoffe einfach nicht liegen lassen... und ich bin begeistert! Gelbe Schuhe sind dann auch noch bei mir eingezogen...

Das heutige Kleid ist mal wieder ein Nachbau, diesmal allerdings vom schwedischen Riesen, so anno 1998. Ich war schon immer ganz verliebt in den Ausschnitt und als ich dann mit meinem Meter Pfauenjersey nach Hause kam, war eigentlich klar, was der Stoff werden wollte. Ich finde die Formen des Musters passen ganz hervorragend zur Ausschnittform. Das Schnittmuster war schnell abgenommen, aber das Originalkleid ist aus einem sehr festen Jersey, so daß ich im Nachhinein doch noch viel an Weite rausnehmen mußte.

Summer has finally arrived! Yipeeh! Finally I can wear all my summer favourites from last year. After avoiding yellow clothes for ages I just had to buy two yellow fabrics last year... and I'm thrilled! In the meantime yellow shoes have found their way to me too...

Today's dress is copied from a jersey dress I bought back in something like 1998 I guess. I always have been in love with the neckline of the original dress, so after having bought this peacock jersey I knew right away what its determination was. I think the pattern shapes do match the shape of the neckline just perfectly. The pattern was copied quickly but I did have to size down quite a bit in the end since the original dress is made out of a very firm jersey.

Geschickterweise habe ich mal wieder nur 1 Meter Stoff gekauft... bei 175 cm Größe nicht wirklich ausreichend für ein Kleid. Zum Glück lagerte im Fundus dünner Jersey im selben Gelbton und in einem dunklen Lila. Wie man an der ungebügelten Saumpasse erkennen kann, habe ich den Jersey einfach doppelt genommen, damit hatte ich dann gleich einen schönen Abschluß ohne umnähen. Für die Einfassungen habe ich den dunklen Jersey auch doppelt genommen und von rechts mit der Overlock angenäht. Dafür habe ich zunächst eine Schulternaht und die Seitennähte offen gelassen. Nachdem alle Nähte mit der Overlock geschlossen waren, habe ich die Einfassungen nach innen umgeschlagen und von außen abgesteppt. Wie beim Saum habe ich innen so eine schöne geschlossene Kante. Zwischen Saumpasse und Kleid habe ich ebenfalls einfach einen doppelten Streifen beim Nähen mitlaufen lassen. Quasi eine falsche Paspel. In der Kombination mit dem einfarbigen Jersey ist das Kleid sofort zum Dauerliebling geworden. Das sieht man leider schon etwas am Stoff und ein bißchen zu weit ist es ein Jahr später auch. Vielleicht mache ich es diesen Sommer doch noch etwas enger.

 
I just bought 1 metre of the fabric, stupid me... with being 175 cm tall that's never enough for a decent dress. Luckily there was sitting some thin jersey in my stash in a matching yellow and a dark purple. As you can tell from the non-ironed seam yoke I just doubled the jersey so I would have a nice and neat finish without extra sewing. I also doubled the dark jersey for the binding and attached it from the right side with the serger. I left one shoulder and the sides open for that. After having closed everything with the serger I folded the binding over to the inside and topstitched it from the right side. Now I have a very neat finish there on the inside too. I layered a doubled strip of dark jersey between the seam yoke and the dress itself while sewing it creating a kind of fake piping. With the combination of the different fabrics the dress quickly became one of my all time favourites! Unfortunately this already shows and it is a bit too loose one year later too. So maybe I will just make it a bit smaller this summer.
