Punktrock 2.0 - MMM #9

SM/pattern: selbstgemacht / diy
Stoff/fabric: Baumwollstoff mit Stand und Leinen-Baumwollgemisch / cotton and linen-cotton-mix

Just in time for almost already autumn like temperatures I managed to finally get done with the necessary changes on this skirt. I already posted a photo of the skirt from two years ago here. I really just needed to cut off the jersey waistband, taking in inches of fabric and sewing it back on. I drew the pattern myself using the classic instructions for a circular skirt, but sewed a half-circle. I cut the half-circle in four parts and chose a nice cotton fabric for the upper and a linen-cotton mix for the lower skirt. The linen is lovely even during really hot weather. I top-stitched the seams with pink yarn, yay. Me being lazy I hemmed the upper skirt with the machine and used bias binding in a deep fuchsia for the lower one. And if that wouldn't have been enough details I also went for a little crown and some satin tape on which I sewed my personal label. Voilà!

Und hier geht's zum MeMadeMittwoch!

Pink me up - MMM #8

SM/pattern: Burda 02/2014 #124. Gr. 42 / size 16 (UK)
Stoff/fabric: dünne Baumwolle mit Elasthan / light-weight cotton with elastane
Änderungen/changes: Tunnelzüge an den Seiten weggelassen / sewn without the draw cords at the sides

Today's dress is actually almost a desaster... Sewn last year I chose the wrong size cause I didn't wanted it tight fitting but summerly loose. So I went for a size 16, absolute craziness for the cut of the top but kinda ok for the skirt bit. I better should have combined a 12 with a 16, if I just would have given it a second thought. The dress never really fits well since the top is way too loose and the belt creates funny bumps in the wrong places...nevertheless I do like it! The huge top is perfect for hot and humid days, also the fabric. No sticking and almost no crinkling although the fabric is a fairly thin and soft cotton. And the neon pink details going so well with the grey fabric make me happy everytime I see them. So who cares if the dress is not the most flattering!

The dropped shoulders are gathered with a draw cord on the inside which creates a gathered yoke at the back. I used piping band for the armholes and usual bias tape for the neckline and the draw cord. I had to close the armholes at least another 2 cm because of the huge size of the top.
